Role Overview:
As a Virtual E-commerce Bookkeeper, you will manage the financial operations of e-commerce businesses, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will be critical in maintaining up-to-date financial records, streamlining processes, and offering insights to optimize business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• E-commerce Bookkeeping:
  Accurately record all financial transactions, including sales, expenses, inventory management, and cost of goods sold (COGS), for e-commerce operations.
• Platform Integration:
  Reconcile transactions across e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and WooCommerce with accounting software like QuickBooks or Xero.
• Financial Reporting:
  Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports tailored to e-commerce metrics.
• Inventory Accounting:
  Monitor and account for inventory costs, write-offs, and adjustments. Collaborate with inventory management teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting.
• Tax Compliance:
  I handle sales tax filings and ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations. I also stay updated on tax requirements specific to e-commerce businesses.
• Accounts Reconciliation:
  Reconcile bank accounts, payment gateways (e.g., PayPal, Stripe), and credit card statements to ensure accurate financial records.
• Process Optimization:
  Develop and implement streamlined financial tracking, budgeting, and forecasting processes, leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
• Client Collaboration:
  Work closely with e-commerce clients to understand their financial goals and challenges. Provide tailored bookkeeping solutions and strategic insights to support business growth.
• Expense Management:
  Track operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Assist in setting budgets and monitoring adherence to financial plans.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background:
  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certifications such as CPA, CMA, or equivalent are preferred but not mandatory.
• Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, eBay, WooCommerce).
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of payment gateways and sales tax software (e.g., Avalara, TaxJar).
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably with e-commerce clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple e-commerce platforms and reconcile complex transactions.
• Analytical Skills:
  Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Attention to Detail:
  High level of accuracy in managing and recording financial transactions.
• Communication Skills:
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and stakeholders effectively.
