Position Overview:
We seek a motivated and highly skilled Remote Energy Sector Cybersecurity Analyst to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of information systems across the energy sector. As a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will identify vulnerabilities, monitor threats, and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a deep understanding of cybersecurity practices and energy sector-specific security challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the security of information systems, networks, and applications within the energy sector to detect and respond to potential cybersecurity threats.
- Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system, network, and application weaknesses.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to implement security controls, patch vulnerabilities, and strengthen the overall cybersecurity posture.
- Analyze security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans to ensure timely and effective response to cybersecurity incidents.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather and document cybersecurity requirements, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards to protect information systems and critical infrastructure.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Monitor and analyze security logs, network traffic, and other data sources to identify suspicious activities and indicators of compromise.
- Stay informed about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity best practices related to the energy sector.
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training to employees to promote a security culture within the organization.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and assessment findings to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the implementation of security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus software.
- Work with regulatory bodies and industry groups to ensure the organization meets or exceeds energy sector compliance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of experience as a Cybersecurity Analyst or in a similar role, preferably within the energy sector.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and industry standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection.
- Experience performing vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk assessments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze security incidents and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using security tools and technologies, such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
- Experience working with regulatory compliance requirements, particularly in the energy sector, is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a remote work environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), and GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH).
- Experience working with industrial control systems (ICS) or SCADA systems in the energy sector.
- Knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and security best practices.
- Experience with cloud security, particularly within AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments.
- Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms and techniques for threat hunting.
