Position Overview:
We seek a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Business Analyst to join our client's team remotely. The ideal candidate will analyze and optimize manufacturing processes, systems, and operations. This role will involve working closely with stakeholders to identify business needs, provide data-driven insights, and propose strategies for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing productivity. As a Manufacturing Business Analyst, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the manufacturing industry by driving change and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing Process Analysis: Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas of inefficiency, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement. Perform in-depth assessments of workflows and production cycles to develop actionable recommendations.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data to assess performance and identify trends. Use data analysis tools to generate insights that support business decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Business Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into actionable project plans. Facilitate meetings with manufacturing teams, production supervisors, and leadership to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Process Improvement Initiatives: Develop and implement process improvement strategies, such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies, to optimize production efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality. Lead initiatives to identify root causes of production inefficiencies and implement corrective measures.
- Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Conduct cost analysis and work closely with the finance team to identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising quality. Assist in developing budgets and forecasts based on manufacturing data and industry trends.
- Technology Assessment & Integration: Assess the current technology used in manufacturing and identify areas where technology upgrades or automation can improve efficiency. Work with IT and engineering teams to support the integration of new technologies into existing systems.
- Performance Metrics & Reporting: Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of manufacturing processes. Prepare and present reports on performance metrics, trends, and recommendations for improvement to management and other stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with organizational stakeholders, including production managers, engineers, and executive leadership—liaison between business units and the technology team to ensure that process improvements align with business needs.
- Change Management: Support change management efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of new processes, technologies, and methodologies. Conducted training sessions and workshops and guided manufacturing teams in adapting to new practices and tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or additional Business Analysis or Lean Manufacturing certifications is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing business analysis, process improvement, or consulting role is essential. Experience in the manufacturing industry and a proven track record of delivering successful process improvement projects are also necessary.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex data, conduct root cause analysis, and develop data-driven recommendations, are required. Experience with data analysis tools, such as Excel, Power BI, or similar software, is also required.
- Manufacturing Expertise: It is highly desirable to have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, methodologies, and industry best practices. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process optimization techniques is also desirable.
- Project Management: Proven experience managing projects from inception to completion, including setting timelines, tracking progress, and ensuring deliverables are met. PMP or similar project management certification is an advantage.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems, propose creative solutions, and implement them effectively—a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to driving positive change.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with manufacturing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is required. Experience working with automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing tools is a plus.
- Remote Work Experience: Experience working remotely or managing distributed teams is a plus. The candidate should be comfortable using remote communication and collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
