About the Role:

We seek a highly skilled Virtual Health and Safety Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team. This remote position requires a professional with extensive knowledge and experience in health and safety regulations, compliance strategies, and risk management. The ideal candidate will ensure that our organization's health and safety practices are up-to-date and fully compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and update company policies accordingly.
    • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with health and safety standards and recommend improvements as necessary.
  2. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential health and safety hazards within the organization and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
    • Perform risk assessments and create detailed reports on potential risks and proposed solutions.
    • Collaborate with other departments to implement risk management strategies and ensure they are followed effectively.
  3. Training and Education:
    • Design and deliver employee training programs on health and safety practices, including emergency procedures, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
    • Ensure all employees know and understand the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Develop training materials and resources to support ongoing education and compliance.
  4. Incident Management:
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine causes and develop recommendations for preventing recurrence.
    • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all incidents and corrective actions.
    • Coordinate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  5. Health and Safety Program Development:
    • Create and implement health and safety programs and initiatives to promote a safety culture within the organization.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of health and safety programs and make adjustments as needed to improve outcomes.
    • Provide management and employees with expert advice and support on health and safety issues.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of health and safety policies, procedures, and compliance records.
    • Prepare and submit regular health and safety performance reports, including metrics and trends.
    • Ensure that all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
  7. Remote Work Compliance:
    • Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are adapted to suit remote work environments.
    • Provide guidance on ergonomics, workspace setup, and other factors impacting remote workers' health and safety.
    • Address any health and safety concerns specific to remote work arrangements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing health and safety programs and training.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote environment.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms for communication, training, and compliance tracking.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a fully remote position, allowing for flexible working hours within standard business time zones.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, meetings, or site visits.
