Overview:
We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Online Compliance and Ethics Officer to join our team. In this critical role, you will develop, implement, and manage the compliance and ethics programs across our global online operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance, ethical standards, and best practices in corporate governance. Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Program Development:
- Design and implement a comprehensive compliance program that aligns with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to ensure they remain practical and up-to-date with changing regulations.
- Develop and maintain a compliance calendar to track key regulatory deadlines and ensure timely submission of required reports.
- Ethics Program Management:
- Develop and promote a company-wide code of ethics that reflects our commitment to integrity and ethical behavior.
- Conduct regular ethics training sessions for employees at all levels, emphasizing the importance of ethical decision-making in everyday business activities.
- Establish and manage a confidential reporting system for employees to report ethical concerns or violations without fear of retaliation.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret changes in laws and regulations that may impact the companyโs online operations, including data privacy, cybersecurity, anti-bribery, and anti-corruption.
- Ensure that the companyโs online activities comply with applicable regulations in all jurisdictions where we operate.
- Work closely with legal and IT teams to ensure data protection and cybersecurity measures meet regulatory standards.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance and ethics risks associated with the companyโs online activities.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks, including creating action plans and monitoring progress.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate compliance and ethics considerations into business processes and decision-making.
- Internal Auditing and Reporting:
- Develop and execute a compliance auditing program to regularly assess the effectiveness of compliance and ethics initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and the board of directors on the status of the compliance program, including any identified issues and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate compliance audits and respond to audit findings.
- Training and Awareness:
- Design and deliver targeted training programs for employees, contractors, and third-party partners to ensure a clear understanding of compliance and ethics expectations.
- Develop and distribute compliance and ethics communication materials, such as newsletters, bulletins, and intranet content, to raise awareness and reinforce key messages.
- Foster a continuous learning and improvement culture by encouraging employees to stay informed about compliance and ethics topics relevant to their roles.
- Incident Management and Investigation:
- Lead the investigation of reported compliance and ethics violations, ensuring a thorough, impartial, and timely resolution.
- Collaborate with HR and legal teams to determine appropriate disciplinary actions for confirmed violations.
- Document and track all incidents and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and communicated effectively.
- Third-Party Compliance Management:
- I oversee the due diligence process for onboarding new third-party partners and ensure they meet the companyโs compliance and ethics standards.
- Monitor the ongoing compliance of third-party partners and take appropriate action if any issues arise.
- Work with procurement and legal teams to include compliance and ethics clauses in contracts with third parties.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in compliance and ethics.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of the compliance and ethics program and recommend improvements based on findings and feedback.
- Participate in industry forums, conferences, and professional networks to exchange knowledge and stay informed about emerging risks and challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in law, business administration, or a related field. A masterโs degree or certification in compliance (e.g., CCEP, CFE) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance, ethics, or legal role, preferably in an online or digital environment.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and anti-corruption laws.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance and ethics programs.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
- High level of integrity, with a commitment to upholding ethical standards.
