Role Overview:
As a Remote DLP Analyst, you will monitor, manage, and refine the organization's data loss prevention strategies. You will help protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, modification, and exfiltration. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the security and IT teams to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and the implementation of effective DLP policies. You will also be key in investigating incidents and proactively strengthening the organization's data security posture.
Key Responsibilities:
- DLP Policy Management: Develop, configure, and manage data loss prevention policies across the organization's systems to ensure sensitive data is adequately protected.
- Incident Monitoring and Response: Monitor DLP alerts, investigate data loss incidents, and work with other security personnel to respond to and mitigate risks.
- Data Classification: Collaborate with different business units to identify and classify sensitive information, ensuring appropriate controls are in place for data security.
- Policy Improvement: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of DLP policies and rules, making adjustments as necessary to improve data protection efforts.
- Incident Investigation: Conduct in-depth investigations of data loss incidents, identify root causes, and work with stakeholders to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
- Risk Analysis: Analyze and identify data security risks, proactively recommending measures to minimize exposure and enhance the organization’s data protection capabilities.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on DLP events, highlighting trends, incidents, and policy violations, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Compliance Support: Ensure that DLP practices align with data protection regulations and compliance requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific guidelines.
- Awareness and Training: To help prevent accidental data loss, employees should receive training and awareness sessions on data protection policies and best practices.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, HR, and business units, to ensure the effective implementation of DLP strategies and protect sensitive information.
- Tool Management: Maintain and optimize DLP tools and technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness in safeguarding data.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to the DLP program by analyzing system activities, developing best practices, and staying informed on emerging trends and technologies in data security.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a data loss prevention or similar information security role, with hands-on experience managing DLP tools and policies.
- Technical Skills: Experience working with DLP solutions such as Symantec DLP, Forcepoint, McAfee, or Microsoft DLP. Ability to configure, tune, and maintain DLP policies for optimal performance.
- Data Protection Knowledge: Strong understanding of data classification, encryption, and protection technologies. Familiarity with industry data protection standards and best practices.
- Incident Analysis: Proven ability to analyze data loss incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend remediation measures to mitigate data leakage.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA and their implications for data loss prevention.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document incidents and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) are a plus.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and accuracy in analyzing incidents, creating policies, and maintaining records.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage data security incidents.
Preferred Skills:
- Cloud DLP: Experience with DLP for cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with tools and policies designed for cloud data security.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python to automate DLP processes and improve data security operations.
- Endpoint Security: Understanding endpoint security solutions and their role in preventing data loss, particularly in a distributed or remote work environment.
- Threat Intelligence: Familiarity with threat intelligence sources and the ability to incorporate threat intelligence into DLP policy improvements.
