Responsibilities You’ll Own

Client Advisory and Legal Strategy

  • Offer heartfelt, knowledgeable legal guidance to older adults and their caregivers.
  • Draft, explain, and review estate documents like trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Handle guardianship petitions and legal representation with empathy and professionalism.
  • Address issues such as elder neglect or financial exploitation with discretion and resolve.

Healthcare and Benefits Planning

  • Counsel families on long-term care options and financial structuring.
  • Assist with Medicaid eligibility, navigating public assistance programs, and asset preservation strategies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare advisors to develop comprehensive support plans.

Representation and Advocacy

  • Represent clients during hearings, settlement discussions, or administrative processes.
  • Serve as a legal voice in multidisciplinary collaborations with community and medical professionals.
  • Stay current with legal updates that impact older adults and proactively apply these changes to your practice.

Required Background

Must-Haves:

  • A JD from a recognized law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • At least 3 years’ hands-on experience in elder law, estate planning, or a related field
  • Comfort with remote communication and document-sharing platforms

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience handling Medicaid cases and long-term care strategies
  • Additional state licenses
  • Proficiency in a second language to better support diverse communities
