Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Remote Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor to join our team. The EAP Counselor will play a crucial role in providing support to employees facing personal or work-related challenges, helping them to maintain their well-being and enhance their productivity. This position is designed for licensed mental health professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Counseling Services:
    • Provide confidential, short-term counseling to employees and their eligible family members via phone, video conferencing, and online chat.
    • Conduct assessments to identify clients' needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
    • Facilitate crisis intervention for urgent mental health issues, ensuring immediate support and follow-up as necessary.
  2. Program Development:
    • Collaborate with management to develop and enhance EAP services that meet the evolving needs of employees.
    • Participate in the creation of resources, workshops, and training sessions that promote mental health awareness and resilience.
  3. Referral Services:
    • Guide clients toward appropriate community resources and services when necessary, ensuring they have access to ongoing support.
    • Maintain an updated directory of local mental health services and community resources to facilitate referrals.
  4. Record Keeping:
    • Document all counseling sessions accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards and ethical guidelines.
    • Prepare reports on usage statistics, outcomes, and trends to help evaluate the effectiveness of EAP services.
  5. Crisis Management:
    • Respond promptly to emergencies and provide support to employees experiencing crises.
    • Implement protocols for crises, including risk assessments and safety planning.
  6. Consultation and Training:
    • Provide consultation to managers and HR personnel on employee mental health issues, offering strategies to support affected employees.
    • Lead training sessions and workshops to educate employees about mental health topics, stress management, and work-life balance.
  7. Advocacy and Support:
    • Advocate for a positive work environment that promotes mental health awareness and reduces stigma.
    • Support employees in navigating workplace challenges, conflict resolution, and interpersonal issues.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Current and valid state licensure as a mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in counseling, preferably within an EAP or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health issues, treatment modalities, and resources available in the community.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion.

  • Proficient in telehealth technologies and electronic record-keeping systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to counseling, fostering a safe space for clients.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining part of a virtual team.
