Remote Geotechnical Engineer
Description
Remote Geotechnical Engineer — Crafting Tomorrow’s Foundations from Anywhere
🌍 Introduction: Building a Better World, One Soil Sample at a Time
Once upon a time, a small collective of boundary-pushing engineers decided to ditch the traditional dig-deep-and-grind mindset. They believed innovation didn’t need to sit in a corner office or balance over a muddy trench. Fast-forward to today—we're a fully remote team of structural visionaries redefining what it means to explore, test, and stabilize the earth beneath our feet.
We're not your average engineering firm—we're adventurers in hard hats (well, metaphorically). We mix science with imagination, digital simulations with real-world challenges, and geomechanics with good humor. And now, we’re scouting for a Remote Geotechnical Engineer who’s ready to throw convention out the window (carefully, of course—it’s a remote role). 🧠💻
🚧 Your Mission: Be the Subsurface Whisperer
As our newest Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll dive deep (pun intended) into terrain assessments, rock mechanics, and site investigations—all from the comfort of your home. You'll translate geological data into stable structures and transform messy field reports into confident recommendations that developers and architects live by.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Leading virtual soil analyses and subsurface explorations that help projects stay grounded (literally).
- Conducting desktop site assessments using GIS tools, digital modeling, and remote-sensing technology.
- Reviewing boring logs, lab tests, and geophysical data to design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Collaborating with structural and civil teams to solve load-bearing mysteries and settlement scenarios.
- Preparing geotechnical reports with precision, clarity, and just the right touch of flair.
- Offering remote field support via video consultations—yes, you’ll be the virtual boots on the ground.
🛠 Tools of the Remote Trade
In our digital toolbox, you'll find everything you need to perform like a field legend while sitting at your ergonomic setup. We use:
- Plaxis, GeoStudio, or equivalent finite element modeling software
- AutoCAD Civil 3D for visualizing your impact
- gINT and Rocscience suite for analysis and reporting
- Project management tools like Asana and Notion to keep things flowing
- Data collaboration platforms to work side-by-side (screen-by-screen) with fellow engineers
🧪 Work Environment: Creative, Remote, and Rock-Solid
This isn’t a job where you count the hours—it’s a role where your curiosity leads the way. We operate with trust, flexibility, and a shared love for turning chaos into cohesion. You’ll be:
- Fully remote, always
- Surrounded by teammates who speak both technical jargon and pop culture fluently
- Part of brainstorming marathons that often include bad sketches, worse puns, and brilliant ideas
- Supported in upskilling and certifications—we grow our people like we build foundations: intentionally and for the long haul
🎓 Who You Are: Half Engineer, Half Explorer
Let’s be honest—you love asking, “What’s going on under there?”
You’re part scientist, part storyteller, and fully committed to quality. You know that behind every towering skyscraper is someone like you who asked the right questions and got the answers from the ground up.
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Geological Sciences
- 3+ years of experience in geotechnical investigations or consulting (remote or hybrid experience a plus)
- Solid understanding of soil mechanics, slope stability, and foundation design
- Clear, confident communication skills—written and spoken
- Proficiency in at least one primary modeling tool (Plaxis, Settle3D, etc.)
- Familiarity with remote inspection or drone data interpretation is a bonus
🌟 Why You’ll Love This Job (Besides the Paycheck)
- 💰 Annual salary of $85,276—you've earned it.
- 🧘♀️ Flexible hours that adapt to your rhythm, not the other way around
- 🌱 Learning budget to explore new techniques, tools, or even attend that seismic conference you've been eyeing
- 🏡 No commuting, ever. Unless you count the walk to the coffee machine.
- 🧩 intellectually satisfying Work, never cookie-cutter
🔭 Growth: Where You’re Headed
We believe in continuous evolution. In this role, you’re not just an employee but a cornerstone of a forward-thinking geotechnical ecosystem. Whether you want to specialize in earthquake-resistant foundations or lead a team of remote soil analysts, we’re here to help pave the path.
🎨 Creative Challenges Await
Each project is a new terrain—literally. We’re working on renewable energy site foundations, offshore wind turbine stability zones, and hillside developments with some… ahem... personality. If you’re bored easily, this is not the place for you. You'll feel at home if you thrive on variation, creativity, and finding elegant solutions in dirty data.
🎯 Ready to Shape the Future from Your Home Office?
We get it. You're not just looking for a gig. You're seeking purpose, progress, and a place to bring your full, quirky, ingenious self. So here’s your invitation to make your mark without changing out of your slippers:
Apply now and start building the future—remotely, creatively, and confidently.
Because what’s beneath the surface matters. And so do you.
