Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Health and Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our remote employees. As a Remote Health and Safety Specialist, you will develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs and policies that align with industry regulations and best practices. Your efforts will help maintain a safe work environment, minimize risks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Health and Safety Programs:
    • Design, implement, and manage health and safety programs tailored for remote work environments.
    • Create and maintain safety policies, procedures, and guidelines that adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
  2. Risk Assessment and Management:
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement in remote work setups.
    • Develop strategies and recommendations to mitigate identified risks and enhance employee safety.
  3. Compliance and Regulations:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Stay current with changes in health and safety laws and regulations, and update policies and procedures as needed.
  4. Training and Education:
    • Develop and deliver training programs on health and safety best practices, emergency procedures, and ergonomics for remote employees.
    • Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety matters, addressing their concerns and questions.
  5. Incident Investigation and Reporting:
    • Investigate health and safety incidents, including accidents, near misses, and illnesses, to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
    • Prepare and submit detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and safety inspections.
  6. Ergonomics and Workspace Assessment:
    • Conduct ergonomic assessments of remote workspaces to ensure they meet safety and comfort standards.
    • Provide recommendations for improving workstation ergonomics to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and other health issues.
  7. Health and Wellness Initiatives:
    • Promote and support employee health and wellness programs, including mental health resources, wellness challenges, and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
    • Collaborate with other departments to integrate health and wellness initiatives into the remote work environment.
  8. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and procedures for remote employees.
    • Ensure employees are trained on emergency response protocols and know how to access support in case of an emergency.
  9. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety concerns within the remote workforce.
    • Collaborate with management, HR, and other departments to address health and safety issues and promote a culture of safety.
  10. Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor the effectiveness of health and safety programs and policies, making adjustments as necessary to improve performance and outcomes.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, incorporating new approaches and technologies to enhance safety measures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in a remote or hybrid work environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information.
  • Proficient in risk assessment and management, ergonomic evaluation, and incident investigation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
