Job Summary:

As a Remote Information Security Analyst, you will monitor, maintain, and enhance the security posture of our client's IT systems. You will identify security threats, analyze vulnerabilities, and implement best practices to secure critical systems and data. Your role will also include collaborating with IT teams to support compliance initiatives and manage security incidents. This position is ideal for someone with a proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of information security principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Security Monitoring and Threat Detection:
    • Security monitoring tools, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) platforms, and other security technologies continuously monitor information security systems, networks, and applications for unusual activities.
    • Analyze security alerts to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents, taking appropriate steps to investigate and resolve issues.
    • Conduct threat-hunting activities to identify threats and prevent potential security incidents proactively.
  2. Incident Response and Management:
    • Responding to and investigating information security incidents, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
    • Conducted forensic investigations to determine the root cause of security incidents and provided recommendations to prevent recurrence.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve incidents promptly, and appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  3. Vulnerability Assessment and Risk Management:
    • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify system, network, and application weaknesses.
    • Work closely with IT teams to prioritize and implement remediation efforts to address vulnerabilities and improve the organization's security posture.
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  4. Security Policy Implementation and Compliance:
    • Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Ensure adherence to security frameworks and compliance standards, including ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, etc.
    • Assist in performing internal security audits, assessments, and reviews to ensure compliance with established security policies and procedures.
  5. Security Awareness and Training:
    • Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for employees to educate them on best practices and potential threats.
    • Assist in maintaining a culture of security awareness by promoting security initiatives and best practices throughout the organization.
    • Prepare documentation and guidelines to help employees understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining information security.
  6. Network Security and System Hardening:
    • Assist in managing security controls for firewalls, IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems), VPNs, and endpoint protection.
    • Participate in configuring, hardening, and maintaining systems, networks, and applications to prevent unauthorized access and potential breaches.
    • Ensure security controls are correctly implemented and functioning to protect the organizationโ€™s IT assets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of information security concepts, including risk management, threat analysis, and security monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools, including SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards, such as ISO 27001, GDPR, NIST, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud security in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate security processes and tasks.
  • Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and incident management best practices.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust security principles and their implementation within an organization.
  • Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools to secure endpoints and minimize risks.
