Job Overview:
The Remote IT Disaster Recovery Consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans for IT systems, ensuring business continuity in case of disruptions. You will play a critical role in analyzing current recovery strategies, providing recommendations, and implementing best practices that safeguard data and maintain IT operations in the face of unforeseen events. The role requires a balance of strategic planning, technical knowledge, and effective stakeholder management.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience in disaster recovery planning, business continuity, and IT risk management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks, develop recovery strategies, and conduct regular testing to ensure preparedness.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Disaster Recovery Planning and Strategy
   • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive IT disaster recovery (DR) plans and strategies that ensure business continuity during disruptions.
   • Conduct business impact analysis (BIA) to identify critical business functions and processes and define recovery objectives such as Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
   • Design disaster recovery policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
2. Risk Assessment and Business Impact Analysis
   • Evaluate the organization's IT environment to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities and develop plans to mitigate those risks.
   • Conduct risk assessments and gap analyses to determine the organization's preparedness for disruptions.
   • Collaborate with key stakeholders to determine the potential impact of IT disruptions on business operations and ensure recovery plans are in place to address those impacts.
3. DR Solution Design and Implementation
   • Design and implement DR solutions, including backup systems, data replication, and failover mechanisms, to ensure that systems can be quickly restored in case of disaster.
   • Oversee the implementation of IT systems that support disaster recovery, including cloud-based recovery solutions and data backup platforms.
   • Ensure that DR solutions comply with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
4. Testing and Continuous Improvement
   • Develop and execute regular disaster recovery tests and simulations to validate the effectiveness of recovery plans and ensure readiness.
   • Document and analyze test results, identifying gaps and areas for improvement in disaster recovery capabilities.
   • Update disaster recovery plans as needed based on test results, changes in the IT environment, and lessons learned.
5. Training and Stakeholder Collaboration
   • Conduct training sessions and workshops for IT staff and business units to ensure stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities during a disaster.
   • Collaborate with IT and business leaders to identify critical business processes and ensure that DR plans are aligned with overall business continuity goals.
   • Act as the point of contact for disaster recovery initiatives, providing guidance, support, and expertise to stakeholders across the organization.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Continuity Management, or a related field.
• Experience: At least seven years of experience in IT disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT risk management are essential. Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies is also necessary.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including cloud environments, virtualization, networking, storage, and data replication technologies.
• Certifications: It is highly desirable to hold a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other relevant certification.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex recovery concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Project Management: Strong project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously and coordinating cross-functional teams.
