Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Remote Occupational Health Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and safety of employees by developing, implementing, and overseeing occupational health programs. Your work will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, while also enhancing employee well-being and productivity. As a remote position, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere, though occasional travel may be required for site visits or training.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Implementation:
    • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive occupational health programs that address the physical and mental well-being of employees.
    • Create and maintain policies and procedures related to health and safety in the workplace.
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of health programs, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  2. Compliance and Regulation:
    • Ensure that all occupational health practices and programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and ADA standards.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify potential risks.
    • Stay current with changes in laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety, and adjust programs as needed.
  3. Employee Health and Wellness:
    • Provide expert advice and support to employees on health-related issues and concerns, including ergonomics, stress management, and preventive health measures.
    • Develop and deliver health education and training programs to employees to promote healthy behaviors and practices.
    • Coordinate with healthcare providers and other professionals to manage employee health cases and return-to-work programs.
  4. Incident Management:
    • Investigate and analyze work-related injuries and illnesses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
    • Develop and implement strategies to prevent future incidents and improve workplace safety.
    • Maintain accurate records of incidents, investigations, and follow-up actions.
  5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to employee health and safety, including trends and patterns.
    • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on health and safety metrics, program effectiveness, and compliance status for management review.
    • Use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement in occupational health programs.
  6. Consultation and Support:
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on occupational health issues, providing guidance and recommendations to management and employees.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as HR and Safety, to ensure integrated approaches to employee health and well-being.
    • Offer support during emergencies and develop contingency plans to address potential health crises.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health, Nursing, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Occupational Health Nurse, Certified Safety Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in occupational health, safety, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing health programs and ensuring compliance.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
    • Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote work environment.
