Position Overview
We seek a meticulous and experienced Pulmonology Transcriptionist to join our growing network of remote healthcare professionals. In this role, you will transcribe audio recordings from pulmonologists and other related healthcare professionals into clear and accurate patient records. As a Remote Pulmonology Transcriptionist, you will contribute to ensuring that medical records are well-documented and meet all regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe Medical Reports: Accurately transcribe dictations from pulmonologists into written reports, including patient history, examination results, diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions.
- Review and Edit: Listen to the recordings and edit the transcription for accuracy, grammar, and punctuation. Ensure the final document is clear, coherent, and meets industry standards.
- Ensure Compliance: Follow established guidelines for medical transcription, including privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Ensure the confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Work with Electronic Health Records (EHR): Input transcribed reports into EHR systems, ensuring they are correctly formatted and organized.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Coordinate with pulmonologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to clarify any inconsistencies or discrepancies in transcriptions.
- Maintain Productivity and Accuracy Standards: Meet productivity targets and maintain high levels of accuracy in all transcription activities.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of medical terminology, mainly related to pulmonology and any updates to transcription practices and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in medical transcription or related fields is preferred.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in medical transcription, with at least 1 year specifically in pulmonology transcription.
- Medical Terminology Knowledge: Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to pulmonology, anatomy, and treatments.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all transcriptions.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in using transcription software, word processing programs, and electronic health record systems.
- Typing Skills: Ability to type at a speed of at least 65 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate with healthcare professionals to resolve discrepancies.
- HIPAA Compliance: Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA regulations and guidelines for patient confidentiality.
- Self-motivated: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
