Position Summary
We seek a dedicated and meticulous Senior Medical Transcriptionist to work remotely. As a Senior Medical Transcriptionist, you will accurately transcribe audio files and reports dictated by physicians and healthcare professionals into written documentation, ensuring that all medical terminologies and patient information are recorded accurately and securely. This position requires strong listening skills, an excellent understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to adhere to transcription guidelines and standards. You will be an integral part of ensuring precise and compliant documentation for patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe medical dictations from physicians and healthcare providers, converting audio recordings into high-quality written documents.
- Review and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, grammar, clarity, and compliance with medical transcription guidelines.
- Ensure correct medical terminologies, abbreviations, and formats for various medical reports, including consultation notes, discharge summaries, patient histories, diagnostic results, and other healthcare-related documentation.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality standards and maintain the privacy of patient health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to clarify dictations and resolve discrepancies or ambiguities in patient records.
- Identify inconsistencies, errors, or missing information in the dictation and correct it according to established guidelines.
- Meet quality and productivity standards, ensuring timely delivery of transcriptions within the set deadlines.
- To stay current, one must maintain and update knowledge of medical terminologies, transcription practices, and relevant technologies.
- Electronic health records (EHR) systems are used to upload or store transcribed medical documents as needed.
- Provide mentorship or guidance to junior transcriptionists as required, sharing expertise and assisting in training.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in medical transcription, preferably in a senior or specialized role.
- Proven ability to transcribe various medical reports and dictations with high accuracy.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical procedures.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Proficient typing skills with the ability to type at least 60 words per minute.
- Experience using medical transcription software, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and other transcription tools.
- High attention to detail and accuracy ensures the completeness and quality of medical reports.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) or Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) is highly preferred.
- Prior experience mentoring or training junior medical transcriptionists.
- Experience transcribing specialized fields, such as radiology, cardiology, oncology, or surgery, is a plus.
