Job Description:
As a Remote Surgery Transcriptionist, you will transcribe and edit detailed surgical reports and other medical documentation. Your work will be critical in ensuring the accurate recording of medical procedures and assisting healthcare providers in maintaining comprehensive patient records. You will need a keen ear, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcription of Surgical Reports: Accurately transcribe dictated surgical procedures, notes, and patient records into structured medical documents.
- Editing and Proofreading: Review transcriptions for accuracy, consistency, and completeness, ensuring adherence to industry and organizational standards.
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and procedural information in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines.
- Medical Terminology: Utilize an in-depth understanding of medical and surgical terminology to produce high-quality transcriptions.
- Quality Assurance: Cross-check transcriptions against audio recordings to verify accuracy and completeness.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical transcription, preferably in a surgical setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in transcription tools, foot pedals, and medical software such as EHR systems.
- Typing Speed: Ability to type at least 60 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to identifying and correcting errors in documentation.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle a variety of accents and speaking styles while transcribing audio.
- Certification: Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) credentials are a plus but not mandatory.
