Position Overview:
We seek a dedicated and knowledgeable Sustainability Analyst to work remotely with our client's team. In this role, you will assess, analyze, and provide recommendations on sustainability initiatives to ensure the organization meets its environmental goals and commitments. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainability, have a strong understanding of environmental regulations, and be skilled at interpreting data to drive positive change. You will be critical in helping the organization develop and implement sustainability initiatives that reduce environmental impact, promote energy efficiency, and align with corporate responsibility goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sustainability Analysis & Reporting: Conduct assessments to evaluate the environmental impact of business operations, products, and supply chains. Prepare detailed sustainability reports and present findings to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Data Collection & Monitoring: Collect, analyze, and monitor sustainability data, including energy consumption, waste management, carbon emissions, and resource usage. Use data to assess progress towards sustainability targets and identify areas for improvement.
- Sustainability Strategy Development: Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with the organization's goals. Recommend initiatives to reduce carbon footprints, promote renewable energy use, and improve waste management practices.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor compliance with relevant environmental laws and regulations at local, national, and international levels. Ensure that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and implements best practices for environmental responsibility.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and government agencies to promote sustainability initiatives. Act as a point of contact for sustainability-related inquiries and foster collaboration across departments.
- Carbon Footprint Reduction: Develop and implement initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimize carbon footprints. Analyze data to identify opportunities for energy efficiency and renewable energy adoption.
- Supply Chain Sustainability: Assess the sustainability practices of suppliers and partners. Provide recommendations to enhance sustainability within the supply chain and ensure alignment with corporate sustainability objectives.
- Research & Best Practices: Stay informed of emerging trends, best practices, and innovative solutions in sustainability. Conduct research to identify opportunities for implementing new sustainability practices and technologies within the organization.
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): Conduct LCAs to evaluate the environmental impact of products from creation to disposal. Use the findings to minimize impact and recommend product redesign, material selection, or end-of-life options.
- Training & Awareness: Develop training materials and conduct workshops to raise employees' awareness of sustainability issues and initiatives. Foster a culture of environmental responsibility and encourage active participation in sustainability programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or additional certifications in sustainability, environmental management, or energy efficiency is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in sustainability analysis, environmental consulting, or a related field is required. Experience working on corporate sustainability programs or within the environmental sector is highly desirable.
- Sustainability Expertise: Strong understanding of sustainability concepts, including energy efficiency, waste management, carbon footprint reduction, and renewable energy adoption. Familiarity with international sustainability standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, ISO 14001).
- Data Analysis Skills: Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting sustainability data. Ability to use data to develop meaningful insights, track progress, and drive decision-making. Experience with data analysis tools like Excel or Power BI is a plus.
- Environmental Regulations: Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices for corporate sustainability. Ability to monitor law changes and advise on their impact on business operations.
- Project Management: Experience managing multiple sustainability projects simultaneously, including setting timelines, tracking progress, and ensuring successful delivery. PMP or similar project management certification is an advantage.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex sustainability concepts clearly and understandably. Ability to prepare and present reports to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to identifying sustainability challenges, finding innovative solutions, and implementing them effectively. Ability to think critically and creatively to solve environmental problems.
- Remote Work Experience: Experience working remotely or with distributed teams is a plus. Comfortable using remote communication and collaboration tools such as Zoom, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
