Job Summary:
As a Telecommunications Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and integrity of telecommunications networks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security measures, monitor potential threats, and respond to incidents that could compromise network security. The ideal candidate is passionate about cybersecurity, proactive, and well-versed in telecommunications systems and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Security Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of telecommunications networks to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats.
- Implement security controls to ensure that data transmission and communications are safeguarded.
- Threat Monitoring and Incident Response:
- Continuously monitor telecommunications networks for security breaches, vulnerabilities, and anomalies.
- Investigate security incidents, identify root causes, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent future incidents.
- Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain a risk management program to mitigate potential security threats to telecommunications systems.
- Identify emerging threats and provide timely recommendations for preventive measures.
- Security Standards and Best Practices:
- Ensure that all telecommunications systems comply with industry security standards, such as NIST, ISO, and other applicable frameworks.
- Educate staff and other stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with network engineers, IT personnel, and third-party vendors to ensure a secure telecommunications infrastructure.
- Assist in designing and deploying secure telecommunications networks, ensuring security is embedded throughout the network lifecycle.
- Incident Reporting and Documentation:
- Create detailed reports for cybersecurity incidents, including analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
- Maintain thorough documentation of network security measures, policies, procedures, and incident response activities.
- Security Tool Management:
- Various security tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions, can be utilized to detect and respond to threats.
- Keep abreast of the latest cybersecurity tools and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of security measures.
- Telecommunications Security Policies:
- Develop and update security policies, guidelines, and procedures related to telecommunications and ensure all team members adhere to these protocols.
- Evaluate existing policies and recommend changes to improve security posture.
- Vulnerability Testing:
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on telecommunications systems and networks to identify and address security gaps.
- Develop mitigation strategies based on test results to minimize the risk of unauthorized access.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Telecommunications, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of cybersecurity experience, focusing on telecommunications networks and infrastructure.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of telecommunications protocols such as SS7, SIP, and VoIP.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools.
- Knowledge of cryptographic protocols, encryption, and secure communications.
- Familiarity with industry security standards and best practices, including NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
- Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent are preferred.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing security issues.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while being a collaborative team player.
