Remote Transportation Logistics Specialist

Position Overview:

As a Remote Transportation Logistics Specialist, you will be key in managing and optimizing our company's transportation and logistics operations. You will work remotely, coordinating transportation activities, analyzing logistical data, and ensuring the seamless delivery of goods and services. This role requires a strong understanding of transportation management, excellent problem-solving skills, and working independently while collaborating with various teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transportation Management:
   • Oversee and coordinate the transportation of goods from origin to destination, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
   • Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
   • Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that may arise during transit.
2. Logistics Coordination:
   • Develop and implement logistics strategies and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
   • Analyze transportation data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
   • Collaborate with procurement, warehousing, and customer service teams to ensure smooth operations and address logistical challenges.
3. Cost Management:
   • Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and logistics providers to achieve cost savings.
   • Analyze transportation expenses and budget forecasts to ensure adherence to financial targets.
   • Implement cost-control measures and optimize transportation routes to reduce overall expenditure.
4. Compliance and Documentation:
   • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including DOT, EPA, and customs requirements.
   • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to transportation activities, including shipping manifests, invoices, and customs paperwork.
   • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure continued compliance.
5. Problem Resolution:
   • Address and resolve any transportation-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies.
   • Act as a point of contact for internal teams and external partners, providing timely and practical solutions to logistical problems.
   • Develop and implement contingency plans to manage potential disruptions in the supply chain.
6. Reporting and Analysis:
   • Prepare regular reports on transportation performance, cost analysis, and operational metrics.
   • Use data analysis to assess the effectiveness of logistics strategies and make recommendations for improvements.
   • Present findings and insights to management and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
7. Customer Service:
   • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to transportation and delivery.
   • Communicate effectively with customers to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.
   • Collaborate with customer service teams to address and resolve any service-related concerns.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transportation and logistics management, preferably in a remote or virtual environment.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
