Key Responsibilities:

1. Transcription Services: Accurately transcribe dictated recordings made by urologists and other healthcare professionals into medical reports, correspondence, and other urology-related documents.
2. Medical Terminology: Interpret and ensure correct usage of urology-specific medical terminology, abbreviations, and diagnostic information.
3. Documentation Quality: Proofread and edit transcribed documents for accuracy, grammar, clarity, consistency, and coherence while adhering to industry standards and client-specific guidelines.
4. HIPAA Compliance: Maintain the confidentiality of patient information at all times by HIPAA regulations and company policies.
5. Timely Submission: Ensure all transcripts are completed and submitted within established deadlines while maintaining high quality.
6. Collaborative Communication: Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare professionals, and team members to clarify any uncertainties in dictated content.
7. Technology Usage: Utilize transcription software, word processing tools, and medical databases efficiently to perform daily tasks.
8. Update Knowledge: Stay updated with urology-specific medical developments and trends to ensure accuracy in transcriptions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification as a medical transcriptionist or coursework in medical transcription is highly preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum of two years of experience as a medical transcriptionist, preferably in the field of urology or another related medical specialty.
3. Knowledge of Medical Terminology: Proficiency in urology-specific medical terminology, as well as an understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology related to the urology field.
4. Typing Speed: Strong typing skills with a minimum speed of 60 words per minute, with high accuracy.
5. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills to ensure accuracy in documentation.
6. Technical Skills: Familiarity with transcription software, electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and word processing programs. Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues independently.
7. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to ask questions when needed and clarify ambiguities in dictation.
8. Time Management: Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
9. Work Environment: A quiet, distraction-free workspace and a reliable computer with high-speed internet access are essential for this remote position.

Preferred Skills:

• Certification: Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) certification is a plus.
• Prior Experience in Urology: Prior experience transcribing urology reports is highly desirable.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to various transcription platforms and physician dictation styles.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify discrepancies in dictated information and appropriately resolve them to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient records.
