Key Responsibilities
As a Virtual Career Development Advisor, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:
Career Coaching & Counseling
- Conduct individual career counseling sessions: Provide one-on-one virtual career consultations, helping clients clarify their career goals, explore potential career paths, and create tailored development plans.
- Develop personalized action plans: Assist clients in creating and implementing detailed career roadmaps, focusing on achieving short-term and long-term professional objectives.
- Job search strategies: Teach clients how to craft an effective job search strategy, including optimizing résumés, preparing for interviews, and networking effectively.
- Career transitions and advancement: Offer guidance for individuals looking to change careers, re-enter the workforce, or seek promotion within their current field.
Client Support & Resource Management
- Assess client strengths and weaknesses: Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine clients' skills, interests, and values and how these align with potential career opportunities.
- Resource provision: Provide access to career tools, templates, and databases that clients can use to improve their applications and job searches.
- Regular check-ins and support: Schedule and conduct follow-up meetings to track progress and adjust development plans accordingly.
Workshops and Group Sessions
- Facilitate career development workshops: Conduct virtual group workshops on topics such as résumé writing, LinkedIn optimization, interview preparation, and networking strategies.
- Collaborate with other team members: Work with other advisors and trainers to develop and deliver group training programs that meet the needs of diverse client populations.
- Organize career webinars and events: Coordinate and lead virtual career fairs, guest speaker sessions, and other events to enhance clients’ exposure to job opportunities and industry trends.
Career Resources & Market Research
- Stay updated on industry trends: Conduct ongoing research to stay informed of current trends in the job market, emerging industries, and in-demand skills that can benefit your clients.
- Develop new resources: Continuously update and create new career guides, worksheets, and other resources to ensure clients have the tools they need to succeed.
- Maintain a digital resource library: Ensure clients have access to relevant resources, including job boards, networking platforms, and career development literature.
Client Outreach & Engagement
- Client onboarding: Manage the client intake process, ensuring clients feel supported from the start. Develop strong, trusting relationships with each client.
- Maintain client records: Keep detailed, accurate notes and records of client interactions, goals, and progress using career management software.
- Foster a positive virtual environment: Create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere during virtual sessions that encourages open dialogue and trust.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Psychology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in career coaching, counseling, or advising
- Certification in career counseling or coaching (preferred but not required)
- Familiarity with job search platforms and career development tools
- Experience working with diverse client populations in a remote setting is a plus
Working Conditions
This position is fully remote, offering flexible working hours to accommodate clients from various time zones. You will have the autonomy to set your schedule while maintaining a high standard of service delivery. Regular virtual meetings with clients and occasional team collaboration sessions are expected. The position offers a competitive annual salary of $84,085, along with opportunities for professional development and career growth.
