Virtual Instructional Designer (Remote)

Position Overview:
We seek a creative, detail-oriented, highly skilled Virtual Instructional Designer to join our remote team. You will develop and implement innovative, engaging, and practical learning experiences as an instructional designer. You will work with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional technologists, and various departments to create content that enhances learner engagement and improves knowledge retention.
This position requires a deep understanding of instructional design methodologies, adult learning theories, and experience with eLearning tools and platforms. It is a fully remote role that offers the flexibility to work from any location, provided you can manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Design:
- Develop high-quality learning experiences based on instructional design best practices.
- Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to gather content, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of material.
- Design and structure instructional materials for eLearning courses, webinars, and hybrid models.
- Apply adult learning theories, instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and emerging technologies to deliver learner-centered experiences.
- Continuously assess and improve the learning content to ensure it meets instructional goals and organizational standards.
- Course Development and Production:
- Develop eLearning modules, simulations, assessments, and other interactive content using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and other authoring software.
- To enhance the learning experience, create engaging and accessible multimedia content, such as graphics, videos, and animations.
- Ensure all course materials align with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508).
- Write and edit scripts for instructional videos, ensuring clarity and alignment with learning objectives.
- Ensure that all content is suitable for various learner demographics and experience levels.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with SMEs, project managers, and instructional technologists to ensure the successful delivery of instructional projects.
- Regularly communicate with team members and stakeholders to provide updates, request feedback, and iterate on design.
- Coordinate with IT and LMS teams to ensure the seamless integration of instructional content into the organizationโs learning management system (LMS).
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and departments, facilitating smooth communication throughout the design and development.
- Evaluation and Feedback:
- Design and administer assessments to gauge the effectiveness of instructional materials and courses.
- Collect feedback from learners, instructors, and other stakeholders to assess the impact of learning solutions.
- Analyze learner data and performance metrics to identify trends, improvement areas, and instructional interventions' success.
- Continuously improve instructional materials based on feedback, assessment results, and organizational priorities or learner needs changes.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
- Set project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, communicating progress and changes with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure that projects stay within the allocated budget and that resources are utilized efficiently.
- Document design processes, tools, and techniques for future use and sharing across teams.
- Innovation and Trend Monitoring:
- Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design, eLearning technologies, and adult learning theories.
- Explore new instructional strategies, tools, and techniques that can enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.
- Propose innovative approaches to instructional design and course delivery that reflect the organizationโs goals and the evolving needs of learners.
- Ensure the use of emerging technologies such as AI, VR, AR, and gamification to provide cutting-edge learning experiences.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelorโs degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
- A Masterโs degree is preferred but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an instructional designer or in a related field.
- Experience developing eLearning materials, designing blended learning solutions, and creating instructional content.
- Hands-on experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or other platforms.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and assessment techniques.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and integration processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with video editing, graphic design, and multimedia production.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG.
- Familiarity with gamification techniques, AR/VR in learning, and other emerging technologies.
- A strong portfolio showcasing instructional design work.
Work Environment:
- This is a full-time, fully remote position. Successful candidates must be comfortable managing their workload independently while working closely with team members in a virtual environment.
