Virtual Instructional Designer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Virtual Instructional Designer to join our team. In this remote role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing engaging and effective online learning experiences. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty, and stakeholders to create high-quality instructional materials that enhance the learning experience for a diverse audience. Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Design:
- Analyze learning needs and objectives through consultations with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Develop instructional strategies that align with learning outcomes and are tailored to various learner profiles.
- Create engaging and interactive course materials, including multimedia elements, assessments, and activities that enhance retention and understanding.
- Course Development:
- Design and develop online courses using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard.
- Utilize instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to ensure a systematic approach to course development.
- Create and integrate various types of learning materials, including videos, slideshows, interactive simulations, and written content.
- Collaboration and Consultation:
- Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
- Provide guidance on best practices for online teaching and learning, including accessibility considerations and engagement strategies.
- Participate in curriculum development and improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and standards.
- Quality Assurance and Evaluation:
- Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure learner outcomes and the effectiveness of instructional materials.
- Conduct formative and summative evaluations of courses and programs, using data to make recommendations for improvement.
- Gather and analyze feedback from learners to continuously refine and enhance course offerings.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to faculty and staff on the use of instructional design tools and technologies.
- Create user guides and documentation to facilitate the effective use of learning materials and resources.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in instructional design and online education.
- Technology Integration:
- Explore and implement new technologies and tools that enhance online learning experiences.
- Ensure all instructional materials are compatible with various devices and platforms, promoting accessibility for all learners.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to course delivery and assist users in resolving them.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional design or related roles, particularly in online education.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using LMS platforms, e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate), and multimedia editing software. Familiarity with HTML/CSS and graphic design tools is a plus.
- Understanding of Learning Theories: Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and assessment strategies.
- Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
